Johnny Simonin Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Fenton-Kendrick Funeral Home - Centralia on Jan. 7, 2026.
Johnny N. Simonin was a kind soul, a forever friend, and someone you could always count on. Whether it was lending a hand, sharing one of his stories, or delivering one of his top-notch jokes, Johnny had a way of making people feel welcome and at ease. His presence was steady, familiar, and deeply comforting.

A true jack of all trades, Johnny could fix, build, or tinker with just about anything. He loved hunting, fishing, attending auctions, and working on anything that caught his interest. Some of his happiest moments were tractor rides with his babies and casual conversations about just about anything. He never met a stranger.

Johnny was a devoted father and grandfather, roles that brought him his greatest joy. He is survived by his daughters, Ashley Simonin of Fulton and Katherine Simonin of Kingdom City; his beloved grandchildren, Rylee, Ellarissa, and Bennett; and his sister, Lisa (Rick) Denny of New Bloomfield. He was also known as Papa or Dad to many others he loved deeply-children he helped raise, guided, and considered family in every way that mattered.

By trade, Johnny was a logger, a profession he respected and mastered. Known to many as "The Wood Man," he delivered countless loads of wood and carried an unmatched knowledge of timber and the land. He died in the line of work he never imagined would take his life. His death is a tragedy, and there will never be another like him.

He was in a loving relationship with Michelle Johnson, who held a special place in his life, and her children, Kayla Stierlin, Shawn Steffen and their children.

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, June M. Simonin and Johnny A. Simonin.

Services to honor Johnny N. Simonin will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 17, 2026 at the Callaway Christian Church in Fulton. A visitation will held from 12:00 PM until the time of the service on Saturday at the church.

The family appreciates the continued prayers, love, and support during this difficult time.

Johnny will be remembered for his kindness, dependability, humor, generosity, and unwavering presence. Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy lives on through his family, the stories shared, the lives he shaped, and the love he gave so freely.

My deepest sympathies to Johnny's family and friends. I worked with Johnny for a number of years when we were both with the City of Fulton Gas Dept. I would agree with his obituary, he did not know a stranger and was always genuinely happy to see and talk with you. The time I worked with Johnny was 25 or so years ago but the last time I saw him, a few months back, he made me feel like we had seen and talked with each other the day before. He will be greatly missed.

I am deeply sorry to hear of Johnny's passing. He was one of a kind! He was my school bus driver back in the day. He lived right down the road from me.I used to buy wood from him. My deepest condolences to his family
