Leo A. Ward

Leo A. Ward of Aurora, IL passed away unexpectedly in his home on Feb 7th 2026. He lived in Aurora all his life, where he attended grade school, middle school, and West Aurora High school. Later on he completed his GED at Waubonsee Community College and went on to be a man of many trades. Leo worked in many different positions from being a heavy machine operator, to working in tree service, to sanitation, and being your right hand man on a home project. There wasn't anything he couldn't or wouldn't do. He was a beloved father, son, brother, uncle, grandfather and to most a great friend.

Leo's work ethic was great however this heart and his humor is what he will be remembered for, for most of us. He was always cracking a joke or looking to make someone laugh. He loved deeply and he loved unconditionally. Some things Leo enjoyed were; fishing, camping, being outdoors, heavy metal music, concerts, hot wheel cars, the Chicago Bears, and being the life of the party everywhere he went! But what he loved most was being the best father, son, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend.

Leo is survived by his 2 daughters and their families; Lea Ward and grandson Mason Leo, Ariana (James) Jackson and 3 grandchildren Delaynen, Dayley, and Dax. His Mother Regina Ward, life partner Veronica Martin, Sister Frances Parkison, Niece Katherine (Jake) Chismudy (and their daughter Riley,) Nephew AJ Parkison, Step son Gary Dean Mitchell, Step daughters Tiffany (Noel Jr.) Rivera, and Jennifer Mitchell, their children and grandchildren Vicenta, Francisca, Jazmine, Noel Jr., Julian, Jalen, Nevaeh, Isabella, and Andres. The mother of his children Karrie Sorbel, and so many friends whom he considered family.

Leo is preceded in death by his grandparents Frank and Kathe Ward.

A visitation will take place on Sunday, February 15, 2026 from 2 PM to 6 PM at The Healy Chapel, 332 W. Downer Pl., Aurora, IL 60506.
