Mr. Leon E. “Tony” Anthony, III age 73, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tues January 6, 2026, with his family by his side. A service to celebrate his life will be at Sisters Baptist Church, on Saturday, January 10th, at 11:00 A.M. Reverend Michael Petty, Reverend Burt Parker and Reverend Kevin Carter will officiate. Pallbearers will be his grandsons; R. T. Hall, Anthony Hall, Mack May, Mills May, Micah May, Matthew Moore and Sons In-Law, Timothy May, Jeremy Moore and Paul Wasson. Visitation will be on Friday, January 9th, from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M., in May and Smith Funeral Home.
Tony was born in Atlanta, GA on March 24, 1952, and was raised in Covington, GA, Louisville, KY and Rayle, GA. He graduated from Washington Wilkes High School in 1970. He attended Truett McConnell College, where in 1971 he met the love of his life, Kathy Mills. Tony and Kathy married on July 14, 1974, at Prince Avenue Baptist Church. Tony graduated from the Southern School of Pharmacy in Atlanta, in June of 1975. In November of 1975, they moved to Sandersville to run Shop Rite Drugs. In 1977 they bought the store. Tony loved helping his customers and made many friendships through the years. In 2006, wanting to slow down and spend more time with family, he sold the store to Lisa McDonald and worked for her for several years.
Tony was an active member of Sisters Baptist Church and served as a Deacon, sang in the choir and served on many committees.
Tony is survived by his wife of 51 years, Kathy Mills Anthony; daughters, Erin Wasson (Paul), Stephanie May (Timothy), Kristen Moore (Jeremy); Grandchildren, R. T. Hall (Madison), Anthony Hall, Emily Wasson, Maddy Grace May, Mack May, McKenna Kate May, Mills May, Micah May, Mollie Moore, Mallory Moore, Meredith Moore, Matthew Moore and Great-Grandson, Clayton Hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sisters Baptist Church, 1807 E. McCarty Street, Sandersville, GA 31082.
