Leon Eugene Arndt

Funeral services for Leon Arndt will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at the Marshall Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Darla Fields officiating. Burial will follow in the Alva Municipal Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home. There will be a visitation will family present on Monday, January 26 from 4-6:00 p.m.

Leon Eugene Arndt passed from this life to his heavenly home on January 202026 at the age of 77. Leon was born on January 14, 1949 in Hardtner, Kansas to Ralph and Esta Arndt. Leon grew up on a farm with his sister Shirley and brother Wilbert Paul. He would ride the Farry school bus that his father Ralph drove each day, bringing the farm kids to school. During the day, he could be seen running up and down the halls of the school, or in the cafeteria where Esta was helping prepare school lunches. When the day was over, he would ride the bus home helping to drop off the other kids.

The family moved into Alva during Leon's junior high years. He attended Alva Schools before enlisting in the Army. Leon served his country as a Staff Sargent in the United States Army, retiring following his tours in Vietnam and Operation Desert Storm. He spent time during his service in Korea, Germany and Saudi Arabia. Upon retiring from the United States Army in 1987, he served as a Correctional Officer at the Bill Johnson Correctional Center. He retired from his employment with the state of Oklahoma as a Correctional Officer after 20 years of service.

Leon's request to remain in his home was made possible by his faithful care giver and companion, Kathy Holt. She cared for him in his final months with unmatched love and compassion.

Leon was preceded in death by his spouse, Patsy Arndt; parents Ralph and Esta Arndt; his sisters, Shirley Ann Fields and Evelyn Marie Arndt; and his brothers, Wilbert Paul Arndt and Herbert Dewayne Arndt.

Leon has resided in Alva, Oklahoma throughout his life. He leaves behind four children, Lorrie (Paul) Campbell, Rico Arndt, Richelle Arndt, and Rodney Welsh; seven grandchildren, Tamara, Zayuanna, Ashleigh, Michael, Jadyn, Mason, and Caliann; and five great-grandchildren, Noah, Deacon, Kara, Ivy, and Emilia.
