Leon Theodore Augustus

Leon Theodore Augustus, 89, of Allentown, passed away September 28, 2024 at home.
Born September 10,1935 in Brownsville, PA to the late Felicetta (Acquila) and Theodore Augustus.
Leon was married to his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Lenora Marie (Davis) Augustus who preceded him in death in 2016. They celebrated 60 years of marriage in June 2016.
He graduated from Brownsville High School in 1953. He went on to study at Franklin School of Science and Arts in Philadelphia with his certification in Laboratory Technology. After they were married, they moved to Seaford, Delaware where Leon worked for over 16 years at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital.
In Seaford, Delaware, He was also a volunteer Fireman for over 14 years.
Recruited by Fisher Scientific he worked in sales in the medical equipment division and moved the family to Macungie, PA- Retired in 2000 after 28 years. After he formally retired, he worked various small jobs to keep him busy- he enjoyed bar tending at STM for weddings that Mom was running at the family center.
He loved his work at St. Thomas More where he was a beloved Sacrist and assisted with church preparations and funerals.
He was of the Roman Catholic Faith and an active member of Our Lady of Lourdes in Seaford Delaware where he was an active member of Knights of Columbus. They then joined St. Thomas More Church in Allentown, in 1972. He was a Eucharist Minister, Lector, Member of MOST, retreat rector, Serra Club and the most favored playground dad when we were kids.
He was a wonderful Husband, Father, Grandfather, Uncle, Neighbor and Friend. He loved his sports! He cheered on his Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles and loved watching his grandchildren's teams play. He supported us all in our activities and was a long time Hamilton Park Coach.
He was so proud of his family and loved spending time with all of them.

Augustus Drescher (married to the late David Drescher), Allentown, PA; Joseph A. and wife Joy, Schnecksville PA; Paul M. and his wife Deborah, Flemington, NJ; and Hope A. (Augustus) Croslis and her husband Matthew, Allentown PA; His beloved Grandchildren: Joey Jr. and Veronica, Jackie, Jordyn, Jacob and Taylor, Jason, Emily, Cole, Justin, Todd, and Michael and Great-Grandson Chase, and many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his parents, His wife Lenora, His son-in-law David, Grand-daughter Mary Grace. His Sisters, Therese Lucas, Enis Meese, Concetta Augustus and Elma Augustus and his brothers, Armand Augustus and Tony Augustus.
Services: A Mass of Christian Burial to be held Monday, October 7, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. in St. Thomas More Church 1040 Flexer Avenue Allentown, PA. Calling hour on Monday from 9:30 A.M.-11:00AM in the Church. A viewing to be held Sunday evening, October 6, 2024 from 6:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at the J.S. Burkholder Funeral Home:1601 Hamilton St, Allentown, PA 18102.
Private Family Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery, Allentown at a later date.
