Leon Kruse Obituary
Leon David Kruse was born on July 3, 1938 to Carl and Ruth (Rodbom) Kruse in Rush City, Minnesota. Leon grew up in Rush City and graduated from Rush City High School in 1957. In 1960, he married Emily Stream and together they welcomed two girls into their family; Melanie and Carla. In August of 1976, he married Melody Johnson and they welcomed their son Brian and daughter Brenda.
Leon had many different jobs over the years. He managed a gas station and later worked for the City of Rush City for 30 years. He was a Rush City volunteer fireman for 20 years and a member of the Army National Guard. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and taking road trips across the western and southwestern United States as well as many camping trips in Michigan and northern Wisconsin. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially with the grandkids.
Leon is survived by his wife Melody Kruse of Rush City; children Melanie Johnson, Brian (Jen) Kruse, Brenda (Nick) Skiba; grandchildren Trica (Jason) Mather, Damon Kruse, Mavis Kruse, Destiny Skiba, Brandon Skiba, Annabelle Skiba; great-grandchildren Travis Mather, Austin Mather, Victoria Mather; brother Lonnie (Sue) Kruse; mother-in-law Eileen Johnson; sisters-in-law Trudy Kruse, Julie (David) Dahlberg; brothers-in-law Darran (Sue) Johnson, Dwane (Merly) Johnson; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Carl and Ruth Kruse, first wife Emily Kruse, daughter Carla Kruse, brother Russel Kruse, grandson Allen Johnson, father-in-law Lloyd Johnson.
Reverend Dr. James Gimbel will officiate funeral services for Leon at 11 AM, Saturday, October 12 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Rush City with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. The interment will take place in the Mission Covenant Cemetery, Rush City.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Funeral and Cremation Service of Rush City ~ Olson Chapel.
