Obituary published on Legacy.com by Valley Memorial Park, Cemetery, Funeral Home, Crematory & Reception Center on Oct. 1, 2025.
Leon Joseph Radomile, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2025, at the age of 76.
Born on April 19, 1949, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Leon's life was marked by faith, family, and a deep pride in his Italian heritage. In the mid-1950s, he traveled with his parents to Italy and Australia to meet extended family before settling in Northern California in 1958. By 1963, the family made their home in Mill Valley, California a place Leon would always cherish.
Education was central to Leon's life. After attending St. Vincent de Paul Catholic School with the Daughters of Charity, he graduated from Sacred Heart High School, then went on to the University of San Francisco, earning a B.A. in History in 1972. His Catholic education instilled in him a love for writing and publishing that would define much of his life's work.
For 23 years, Leon owned and operated Mill Valley Health Foods, bringing health and community together. He poured his entrepreneurial energy into celebrating and preserving Italian culture. His projects included an Italian-themed board game in the 1980s (modeled after Trivial Pursuit), bilingual Italian and Spanish cultural books, and the historical two-volume novel The Spear of Lepanto, an epic story inspired by his genealogical research on the 1571 Battle of Lepanto. This work also inspired a screenplay, The Forgotten Adventures of Miguel de Cervantes, highlighting the famed author of Don Quixote and his role in that historic battle.
For the past 15 years, Leon contributed Italian-themed crossword puzzles to Ambassador Magazine, published by the National Italian American Foundation in Washington, D.C., further weaving his heritage into the fabric of the Italian-American community.
Beyond his creative and professional achievements, Leon was a man of deep Catholic faith, service, and family devotion. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, initiated the Coffee & Donuts gatherings at St. Vincent's Most Holy Rosary Chapel, and was devoted to his parish community. He found joy in bocce ball, playing weekly, and was a loyal fan of the San Francisco Giants and the 49ers.
Above all, Leon was a family man. Leon is survived by his loving wife, Lanette; daughters and son-in-laws, Lea and Steven Lindsay, Lexi and Kevin Otterstetter, and four cherished granddaughters, Ashlan, Stella, Saylor, and Lila.
His family, faith, and heritage were the heart of his life, and his legacy will continue to inspire all who knew him.
