Leon I. Rogers

MEXICO, NY-Leon Rogers passed away on May 25,2025 at Crouse Hospital due to complications from a health issue. He was 86 years old.
A man of many hats during his lifetime.
He was a loving husband to his wife Betty (Holbrook) of 68 years. Father to sons Lawrence, and Richard (Megan), and to his daughter Michelle (William) Benjamin.
He was a past village of Mexico trustee as well as a past Mayor of the town. He worked at Alcan for 30 years, retiring in 1994. After retiring he could be found at estate sales or at his own sales he did from home.
He was predeceased by his father Lawrence and his mother Leah (Griffin) Woodward.
He was an active member of the Mexico Volunteer Fire Department for most of his life and held many different offices including chief.
He was a grandfather to 5 and a great-grandfather to 14. He was a friend to many and was always willing to lend a helping hand. A hunter, fisherman, and outdoorsman he could be found in his younger years with his friends and brother-in-law enjoying such activities.
He is survived by his wife, and three children. A sister, Louise and 2 brothers, Ron and Laverne.
He was an Air Force veteran and an active mason in the Mexico Chapter.
The world is a better place because of his volunteering nature, and he will be missed. Contributions in Leon's memory can be made to the Mexico Volunteer Fire Department.
As per the family's wishes, there will be no calling hours. A graveside service will take place at the Mexico Village Cemetery on Monday 11 AM, all are welcome.
