Obituary
Leon Bobby Short, long-time Seminole, Oklahoma, resident passed away on Sunday, March 5, 2023, at his home, at the age of 94. Leon was born on March 28, 1928, in Seminole, to Alvin "Bud" Oscar Short and Cora Lee (Presley) Short. He married Patsy Jean Jennings on June 25, 1948 in Bowlegs. He grew up in the Seminole and Bowlegs area, and returned after retiring from Phillips Petroleum. He worked 39 years in the oil and natural gas fields, most of that time spent in and around Shidler, Oklahoma.
Leon played sports during his high school years including football, basketball and track. He loved coon hunting in his younger days and traveling in their travel trailer in later years. He had a quick wit, enjoyed playing card games, doing lawn work and took joy in helping others. He loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much. He will be remembered as a very hard worker.
Leon is survived by his wife of 74 years, Patsy Jean (Jennings) Short; son, David Short of Seminole; daughter, Peggy Hickinbotham of Huntsville, AL; 8 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and many other family and friends.
Leon was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Robert L. Short.
Those serving as casket bearers will be David Short, Jesse Short, Aaron Short, Jarrett Short, Martin Bartholomew and Mark Hickinbotham.
Leon's graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 10, 2023, at Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole, Oklahoma with Matt Pollock officiating. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
