Leon Villegas, age 96 of Stratford, beloved husband of the late Maria D. Razo DeVillegas, died peacefully on December 25, 2025 at Bridgeport Hospital. Born on April 11, 1929, he was the son of the late Sotero and Paulina Martinez Villegas. Mr. Villegas was raised in Mexico City, served in the Mexican Army and immigrated to the United States in 1970. He worked as a machine operator for the former American Fabrics Company of Bridgeport, for many years, until the time of his retirement. Mr. Villegas was a lifelong World Cup Soccer fan and enjoyed dancing at any special occasion. A devoted husband and father, he worked evening shifts to be with his children during the daytime. He appreciated a good game of dominos or cards and will be long remembered as the patriarch of the family. Mr. Villegas is survived by his devoted children, Jaime Villegas of CA, Raul Villegas of Mexico, Manuel Villegas of CA, Gabriella Reaney and her husband, Jeffrey of Stratford, Maria M. Villegas of Ansonia, Beatrice Agosto of Shelton and Alfonso Villegas of Ansonia; cherished grandchildren, Sandra Villegas, Guadalupe Villegas of Mexico, Christina Villegas of Shelton, Alfonso Villegas, Jr. of Waterbury, Michael Ramos of Shelton and Brianna Marcucio of Shelton; great-grandchildren, Aiden Hanlon, Sofia Hanlon, Alfonso Villegas, Luna Villegas, and Alana Ramos. He was predeceased by a sister, Rufina Villegas and brothers, Isidro and Rodrigo Villegas. Funeral Services will be private. The Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia is in care of arrangements. Online condolences may be made at www.wakeleememorial.com.
