Leon "Woody" Woods

On Sunday, September 28, 2025 at the age of 79, Leon "Woody" Woods passed away peacefully at his home after a courageous battle with dementia.

Woody will be remembered for the legacy he left throughout southern Vermont, from the many beautiful homes he built and renovated, to his lifelong dedication to VAST and the local snowmobile clubs, and his unwavering care for the town cemeteries. A true cornerstone of the Proctorsville community, Woody created spaces where memories flourished-whether through his outdoor pool oasis, the large family picnics he hosted, or the garage that became the heart of countless gatherings, float-building projects, and warm respite during the winter months.

An outdoorsman at heart, Woody found joy in hunting, fishing, and traveling in his camper, but his greatest happiness came from time spent with his family. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren will forever cherish the unforgettable memories he made with them. Known for his laughter and famously mischievous sense of humor, Woody brought light to all who knew him. Though the world feels dimmer without him, his family takes comfort in knowing he is reunited with the love of his life, Gail.

Woody is survived by his brother, Allen "Chip" Woods; his son, Richard Woods, and Richard's wife, Kristina Woods; his grandchildren, Tristin Keck, Whitney Woods, Madeline Moore, and Joshua Woods; along with many nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren who loved him dearly.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Cavendish Snow fleas snowmobile club.

Calling hours will be Wednesday October 8th from 6-8pm at Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield, Vermont.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
