Leona M. Lazarowicz, born on July 20, 1931, in Elkton, Michigan, passed away peacefully at her home on September 22, 2025, with her family by her side. Throughout her 94 remarkable years, she touched the lives of many with her kindness, generosity, and spirited personality.
Leona, known for her green thumb, found joy in gardening and planting flowers, often transforming her surroundings into serene landscapes filled with vibrant colors. Her passion for nature was matched only by her love for her family. Leona cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren, creating lasting memories filled with laughter and joy.
In her leisure time, Leona expressed her creativity through knitting, crocheting, and baking, sharing her handmade crafts and delicious treats with those she loved. These hobbies not only brought her happiness but also served as a way for her to connect with family and friends.
She is survived by her children: Dale (Vonnie) Lazarowicz, James (Lorriann) Lazarowicz, Karen (Kent) Peil, Arnold (Dawn) Lazarowicz, Janet (Craig) Beeck, and Ericia (Eric) Kocks; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Lazarowicz; grandchildren Kraig, Mallory (Matt), Addison, Samantha (Jeff), Amanda (Trevor) Maggie, Joe, Patrick, Daniel, Lauren, Taryn (Chris), Storm (Reece), Cody (Alexus), Nicole, Emily, and Ethan; and great-grandchildren Tyler, Hailey, Miles, Bentley, Quinnley, Mars, Bjorn, Violet, and Harper; sister, Joyce (Keith) Buchanan.
Leona was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Ludwig Lazarowicz, and her son, Quentin Lazarowicz, and nine siblings whose memories she held close to her heart.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Bay City McLaren Hospice for the outstanding care they provided Leona.
A funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at Gephart Funeral Home. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at Gephart Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be considered to Bay City McLaren Hospice or to Golden Horizons of Bay City.
