Obituary of Leona Helene Morrish
It is with deep regret that the family of Leona Morrish announce her passing after a courageous battle with cancer on July 16, 2023, surrounded by loved ones in her home.
Leona moved to Cranbrook in the late 70's, working at Super Value then onto Safeway for 28 years until she retired.
As a mom to her two boys she did her very best at raising them to be the men they are today. Mom's door was always open no matter the time of day, to everyone.
Mom enjoyed many things in life from baseball, golfing, huckleberry picking, happy hour with the girls, playing Yahtzee and cards, and always putting on a great party for friends. Mom loved her birds and Christmas was her most favourite time of year.
Mom will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Leona is survived by her two sons Ken (Sherry) and Jim (Marni), her 5 grandchildren Danny, Kandice-Lee, Bradley, Cassidie and Courtney, her 2 great grandchildren Noah and Emily, with another great grandchild due in December, her 3 sisters Betty, Beatrice and Patsy as well as many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
Leona was predeceased by her Mom and Dad, brothers Eddy, Roger and Leo, her sisters Doris and Angela as well as her grandson Nicholas.
Leona has requested no service, but a celebration of her life will take place at her home at 127 Cross Road South, on July 22, 2023 at 3:00pm. Please bring a chair, some food and refreshments will be provided.
Leona's family wishes to extend a special thank you to the Dr. White, Dr. Lowden, East Kootenay Reginal Hospital Oncology, Ambulatory and Palliative departments, the homecare aides who helped Leona and Interior Health.
