Len (Leonard) Roy Beardsley, of Larsmont, passed away on Friday, October 10, 2025, at the age of 84.
Len was born in Duluth to Roy and Lois Beardsley. He graduated from Duluth Denfeld, served in the Marine Reserves, and graduated from UMD with an Accounting degree. He met his future wife, Judy Sjoblom, at college and they married in 1964. His career started in banking at First Federal and he served as a member of the Duluth Lions Club, including as Club President. He went on to launch two businesses: West Star Accounting, focused on personal income tax and small business support, and, together with Judy, Wagon Wheel Campground, which just completed the 58th year in business. Generations of families have made summertime memories alongside the shore of Lake Superior at the campground. No doubt some of those memories include understanding their assigned parking spots, how and where to stack their firewood, and the importance of duct tape for regular and emergency maintenance needs.
Despite initially knowing little about the sport, when his two sons started playing hockey he became very involved in Two Harbors Youth Hockey and served as a coach, club President, fundraiser, and bonus dad to many young hockey players. He was an active supporter of his kids and grandkids with his loud, booming voice – traveling thousands of miles over the years to watch their activities. Len enjoyed spending time with his family and watching Minnesota sports teams, especially the Vikings and Wild, until the inevitable annual let-down.
He is survived by his wife, Judy, his sons: Kevin (Cassandra) and Kyle (Carmen), brother, Bob, grandkids: Maddy, Morgan, and Connor, step-grandkids: Alex Anderson and Lindsay (Alex) Lemke and their children, and his faithful dog, Barney.
Visitation will be from 10 AM until the 11 AM service on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Two Harbors.
