Leonard William Cap, age 82 of Yankton passed away Sunday, May 18, 2025 at his home, doing what he loved doing—something outside.
Visitation is 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. with a 10:30 a.m. Celebration of Life, with Fr. Tom Anderson officiating, Saturday, May 24 at Goglin Funeral Home in Yankton. Inurnment will be 11:45 a.m. at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery in Tabor.
Leonard was born April 29, 1943 in Yankton to William and Ludmilla (Walloch) Cap. Leonard attended country school through the eighth grade and started farming with his dad until his dad’s passing. He retired from farming in 2017 to take care of his wife, Lucy after she suffered a stroke.
Leonard met and married Lucy Haberer in Yankton on April 17, 1964. They were blessed with 2 children, Dwayne and Becky.
Leonard served in the National Guard from 1961 to 1967. Leonard enjoyed farming and working on all kinds of different things; whether it was mechanics or figuring out how to build just about anything. He was always ready to help out the neighbors. His favorite pastime was visiting. Leonard was an American Legion member for 35 years.
Leonard is survived by his son and wife, Dwayne and Julie Cap of Yankton and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy; daughter, Becky; his parents, William and Ludmilla (Walloch) Cap; along with this father and mother-in-law, Laurence and Marcella Haberer.
