Leonard Chaplinski Obituary
He was born August 11, 1951 in Kankakee, the son of Joseph & Patricia Splear Chaplinski.
Leonard married Vickie Ford on June 1, 1972 in Kankakee.
He was a retired employee of Sugar Steel Company in Chicago Heights. He had also worked in construction.
Leonard enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, and spending time with friends and family.
Surviving are his wife, Vickie Chaplinski of Bradley; two sons, John & Linda Chaplinski of Kouts, IN and Leonard "JR" Jr., & Stephanie Chaplinski of Bradley; two daughters, Cassandra Chaplinski of Bradley and Monica Kaack of Grant Park; one sister, Judy Avila of Limestone; three brothers, Jack Chaplinski of Arizona, James "Jim" & Darla Chaplinski of Bradley, and John & Connie Chaplinski of Arizona; seven grandchildren, John Chaplinski, Jacquelyn Chaplinski, Cameron Chaplinski, Payton Chaplinski, Tyler Kaack, Reiley Kaack, Jayden Kaack; and four great-grandchildren.
Leonard is preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Carlotta Buza; one grandson, Jacob Chaplinski; and one granddaughter, Madison Chaplinski.
Visitation was held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, also at the funeral home. Deacon Patrick Skelly will officiate the ceremony.
Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Kankakee.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested plants and flowers that they will plant in the family garden.
