Lenny enlisted in the US Navy voluntarily in June of 1945, immediately after High School Graduation, and served honorably as an aircraft mechanic.

Lenny was an avid outdoorsman who especially loved duck hunting, fishing, and camping. He instilled a love of nature in his family, taking his wife and 11 children on many camping trips to National and State Parks, most often in one tent. He found great pleasure in music, which he passed on to his children and grandchildren, inspiring several musicians within the family.

He was a longtime member of the local gun club and enjoyed reloading his own shotgun shells. In his later years, Lenny traveled widely-visiting Hawaii, fishing in Alaska, and touring Europe with his grandson Leonard. Together they explored London, Poland, and Spain, and journeyed across Italy from Verona through Tuscany to Lucca, a trip he made at the age of 80. In 2015, he fulfilled a lifelong wish of seeing Machu Picchu.

Dad and Grandpa was admired and respected by all who knew him. He left a lasting imprint on the lives of his children and grandchildren. He will be dearly missed, and his family finds comfort in knowing he and Mom now watch over them together with the Lord.
