Leonard G. Dreyer, 87, of Jackson, passed away Friday, March 6, 2026, at Hubble Creek Nursing Home in Jackson.

He was born November 20, 1938, in Shawneetown, Missouri, to Erwin A. and Lucile Gerharter Dreyer. Leonard grew up in Frohna, Missouri and worked summers at the Frohna Feed Store. He graduated from Perryville High School and attended business school in Cape Girardeau.

Leonard joined the U.S. Army in 1959 and spent most of his tenure in Japan, working in finance and accounting as part of the National Security Agency. He was honorably discharged March 26, 1962. In 1969, he received an accounting degree from Southeast Missouri State University.

Leonard and Sharon Kay Sander were married November 1, 1964, at First Presbyterian Church in Jackson. They resided two years in St. Louis, returned to Cape Girardeau in 1966, and later moved to Jackson. Three daughters were born to their union, Sherri, Nancee, and Catheryn. Leonard and Sharon had been married 50 years when Sharon passed away January 29, 2015.

Leonard worked 28 years at RB Potashnick and several years for Gene Rhodes.

Leonard was a 60-year devoted member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau and a proud member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks for 52 years. He was a charter member of the Jackson Elks Lodge No. 2652, where he held many positions, including Exalted Ruler. He also volunteered and participated in many other groups, including the American Legion, German Club, Make-a-Wish, Love Inc., Girl Scouts, and 4-H.

He enjoyed playing baseball, basketball, bowling, and playing darts. He also loved gardening, both vegetables and flowers.

Loving survivors include three daughters, Sherri Prysock of Jackson; Nancee (George) Flowers of Millersville, Catheryn (Jamie) Hartle of Shawneetown, Missouri; five grandchildren, Christopher (Olivia) Hartle, Charles Hartle, Kaeli Prysock, Caleb Burton, Jake (Kristen) Flowers; six great-grandchildren, Ember, Maddie, Kendal, Zoe, Mason, Callen, and two more expected soon; sisters-in-law, Cathy Sievers and Carol (Doug) Rees both of Jackson; step-sisters, Marlene Stough, Maxine Hessell, Geneva Brandes.

He was preceded in death by his wife; parents, and stepmother, Lorna M. Dreyer; a sister, JoAnn Margaret Dreyer; stepsiblings, Loretta Duckett and Martin Weber; and Sharon’s parents, Charles and Catheryn Sander.

Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m., Monday, March, 9, 2026, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. An Elks service will be held at 7 p.m.

The Rev. Tim Koehler will conduct the funeral service at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at the funeral home. Graveside committal and military honors will follow at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

If considering a memorial contribution, the family suggests Jackson Ministerial Alliance or Boystown.
