Marlow A. “Mike” Brown, age 89 of Jackson, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2026 at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born September 25, 1936 in Aberdeen, Washington to Bert H. and Gertrude Lawrence Brown. Mike married Linda Sue Livesay September 18, 1976 in Cape Girardeau. She preceded him in death August 29, 2021.

Mike entered the United States Army in 1959 and was honorably discharged in 1962. He enjoyed many occupations throughout his career, including working as a truck driver and was a former business owner. He enjoyed most just being with his family, especially all his grandchildren. He was a member of the American Legion in McClure, Illinois.

Loving survivors include five children, Rodney (Casey) Brown of Jackson, Jackie (John) Newell of McClure, Marlya (David) Kelley, Jodi (Brad) Berry, and Richie (Kristie) Phillips; 13 grandchildren, Callie Brown, Alex Brown, Hannah Newell, Aaron Newell, Amanda (Andy) Mitchler, Evan Berry, Ella Berry, Lara (Lucas) Slinkard, Layne Phillips, Lindy Phillips, Charleigh Simmons, Latavish Lopez, and Makala Lopez; five great grandchildren; two sisters, Peggy Benefield and Patti(Ed) Fairbank.

In addition to his wife Linda of 44 years, he was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson Caleb Brown, a great grandchild Remington, and siblings, Betty Gunnels, Ollie Benefield, Junior Brown, Joseph Brown, and Jeff Brown.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 20, 2026 at the Lindsey Cemetery in McClure, Illinois with Glen Hamilton officiating. Interment will immediately follow with full military honors.

Memorial donations are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association.
