Leonard Gurule
February 5th, 1999 – July 12th, 2025
Leonard Gurule, age 26, of La Puebla, NM, passed away on July 12, 2025. He was born to Leon & Marcella Gurule.
Known for his vibrant spirit, generous heart, and selfless soul. Leonard truly lived every moment to the fullest. He worked proudly as an electrician, a profession that matched his hands-on skill and dedication. He found joy in the outdoors, hunting and fishing with those he loved. He took pride in his 1969 Impala, which he showcased at car shows with enthusiasm and pride, winning many trophies. Leonard also enjoyed watching sports, especially basketball.
With a personality that could light up any room, Leonard was the kind of person whose laughter was contagious and whose presence made people feel welcome and seen. His love for life and those around him will never be forgotten.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Ben and Concha Montoya; grandpa Leo Gurule; great-grandfathers Evaristo Gurule and Fidel Martinez; uncle’s David Montoya “Spunky”, Jeffrey Brown “Cito”, Bengie Montoya; great uncle Eppie Martinez; and his close cousin Joshua Montoya.
He is survived by his parents, brother Nicholas (Ashlynn), brother David, sister Angel, fiancé Patrina Duran, grandma Fidelia, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
A Public Viewing will be held on Monday, July 28, 2025, at 5:30 p.m., with a Rosary to follow at 6:00 pm at the DeVargas Funeral Home in Espanola, NM.
A Mass will be held Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at the Holy Family Parish in Chimayo, NM, at 11:00 am.
A Private Burial at a later date.
