Leonard Louis Helm, 57, Carthage, Missouri, a cherished brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2025, at his home. He was born on October 7, 1967, in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, the son of the late Kenneth Douglas Helm, Sr. and Arlyce Irene (Borg) Helm. Leonard's warm spirit and infectious laughter left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Leonard was a proud graduate of Carthage High School, class of 1986, and furthered his education at Missouri Southern State University. His professional life was marked by a dedication to craftsmanship as a skilled hardwood floor installer. Leonard also shared his compassionate heart through his work as a caregiver at the Sunshine Home in Carthage, where he was known for his kindness and patience. Leonard was also a member of the Missouri National Guard.

He was an avid music lover, with a particular talent for playing the guitar. His musical abilities were a source of joy and entertainment at many family gatherings. An outdoorsman at heart, Leonard found solace and excitement in nature, whether he was hunting, fishing, or just enjoying the peacefulness. However, it was the time spent with his nieces and nephews that truly filled his heart with happiness, as he was a playful companion to them.

Survivors include his loving sisters, Mary Helm (Rick Biesterveld), Arla Hagen, and Vanessa Coates (Lennie), all of Carthage; his brothers, Kevin Helm (Jessica), Ponca City, Oklahoma, and Kelly Helm, Fort Dodge, Iowa; several nieces and nephews; and many extended family members and friends, will miss his playful spirit and friendly demeanor. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Helm, Jr.

Memorial graveside services will be held at 10 am, Thursday, September 11, 2025, at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery, Joplin, Missouri. The family will receive friends from 5:30 – 7:30 pm, Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at Knell Mortuary, Carthage. Online condolences may be expressed through www.knellmortuary.com. Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of Knell Mortuary.
