Leonard Hodkiewicz Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Marnocha Funeral Home from May 27 to May 28, 2022.
Leonard J. Hodkiewicz passed away May 24, 2022, after a short battle with cancer.

Leonard was born July 28, 1924, in Pulaski to the late Dominic and Anna (Polczynski) Hodkiewicz.

After graduating from high school, Leonard enlisted in the US Navy, serving from 1944 – 1946, in the South Pacific Theater. Upon returning home to Wisconsin, he continued his education and became an FCC Licensed Electrical Engineer. Soon after, he began his career with WBAY TV and AM Radio in Green Bay. In his later years he worked for Paper Converting, Inc. Leonard was a member of Nativity Parish, the Knights of Columbus, and the Pulaski American Legion, #337.

Leonard married Evelyn (Pochron) in 1956 and started his family. He loved traveling, investing in the stock market, and spending time with his kids. Always interested in current events, Leonard took the family on many Sunday drives to see what was new in the area. He and Evelyn spent many weekends with the kids at ski hills in the winter and water skiing in the summer. Leonard loved spending time at the cabin, golfing with the boys, fishing, playing cards, dancing with his daughters on polka Sunday, and watching the Milwaukee Brewers or Green Bay Packers. Dad's true relaxation was listening to the radio while reading the Wall Street Journal.

Leonard is survived by his wife of 65 years, Evelyn; seven children (and their spouses): Judy Hodkiewicz, Roberta (Todd) Robbins, Kathy Hodkiewicz, Tim Hodkiewicz, Thom (Mary) Hodkiewicz, Dominic (Nicole) Hodkiewicz, and Dennis (Amy) Hodkiewicz; his son-in-law, Dean Schmidt; grandchildren (and their spouses): Dalton, Abbie (Austin) Grant, Spencer, Lucia, Alec, Eric (Sarah), Emily, Madeline, Henry, Sean, and Brayden; his brother, John (Pat) Hodkiewicz; sister, Grace (Robert) Kanugh; and many nieces, nephews, and relatives.

Leonard was preceded in death by daughters: Brenda Schmidt and Mary Jo Hodkiewicz; four brothers and their spouses: Norbert (Agnes) Hodkiewicz, Norman (Monica) Hodkiewicz, Dominic (Julianne) Hodkiewicz, and Ludwig "Ben" (Phyllis) Hodkiewicz; four sisters and spouses: Genevieve Hodkiewicz, Marcella Hodkiewicz, Florence (Jim) Mulloy, and Adeline (Loyal) Berg.

Friends are invited to gather with the family at Assumption B.V.M. Church, 119 E. Pulaski St., Pulaski, on Tuesday, May 31, from 9-11 a.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. with Fr. James Gannon, O.F.M. presiding. Burial with military honors provided by the Pulaski Area Veterans will follow in the parish cemetery.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the entire staff at Edenbrook Nursing Home, Green Bay, the Unity Hospice Team, and the VA in Green Bay for the care and compassion given to Leonard.

Online condolences may be offered to the Hodkiewicz family at www.marnochafuneralhome.com or the funeral home Facebook page.
