Methodius Martin "Matt" Lasecki

Methodius "Matt" Martin Lasecki, age 87 of Townsend, passed away on Sunday, February 22, 2026. Matt was born on January 20, 1939 to the late Leo and Anna (Holewinski) Lasecki, the youngest of 8 children, in the town of Maple Grove, Pulaski. He graduated from Pulaski High School with the class of 1957 and enlisted in U.S. Army. Matt served 2 years on active duty and 6 years in the Reserves. On September 11, 1965, Matt married Mary Lou Van Dreel at Assumption BVM in Pulaski. He retired after more than 30 years with the railroad in 1998 and moved to Mountain, later moving to Townsend. Matt loved hunting, fishing, watching nature, and spending time with his family. He was a member of St. Mary's of the Lake Catholic Church in Lakewood and American Legion Post 44 in Wabeno, where he served on the honor guard.

Matt is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Lou; children, Chet (Sue) Lasecki and Shawn (Caroline) Lasecki; grandchildren, Lindsey (Matthew) Nimz, Spencer (significant other, Kylie) Lasecki, and Ashley Calhoun; special niece, Vonnie Fercy. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sisters, Lucille (Bruno) Dombrowski, Alfred (Marge) Lasecki, Leonard (Regina) Lasecki, Clarence (Bernadine) Lasecki, RoseMary (Emil) Stachura, Alice (Edmund) Socha, Annette (Edward) Fercy.

Visitation will be held on Monday, March 2, 2026 at St. Mary's of the Lake Catholic Church in Lakewood from 9 am until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am with Father Praveen Pamisetti officiating. Military honors will follow the mass. Matt will be interred at St. Mary's of the Lake Catholic Cemetery in the spring. Gruetzmacher Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
