Leonard Libersher Obituary

Leonard Edward Libersher
Born: July 7, 1942 in Joliet, IL
Died: October 10, 2025 in Cape Coral, FL
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Leonard Edward Libersher on October 10, 2025. Leonard was deeply loved by his family, though distance and limited communication in recent years kept them apart. His passing was learned months later.
Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Louise Libersher; his sister, Lenore Weiss; and his nephew, Jason Ramsey.
He is survived by his three sons: Leonard Scott (Kim) Libersher, Gregory (Judy) Libersher, and Jeffrey (Michelle) Libersher; along with 10 beloved grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and many other cherished family members.
Born and raised in Joliet, Illinois, Leonard left a lasting impression on those who knew him-many in the Joliet area would remember him well. He was a hardworking man who never shied away from new challenges. Leonard began his career in the corporate world but soon pursued his entrepreneurial spirit. He entered the automotive tire business and later opened a used car lot on Cass Street, where he retailed pre-owned vehicles. Throughout the 1960s, 70s, and 80s, he continued to explore various facets of the automotive industry before transitioning into rental property ownership.
Leonard fulfilled his dream of semi-retiring in Florida when he relocated to Cape Coral in 1995. There, he managed his rental properties and devoted himself fully to his passion for collector cars. With the help of his close friend Grady Nordeen, "Nootch," and many others, Leonard regularly transported fleets of vehicles to car shows-often entering eight to ten cars at a time and returning home with trophies nearly every outing. His attention to detail was unmatched; he spent weeks meticulously polishing and detailing each vehicle. His cars were truly his pride and joy.
Leonard also served as president of several car clubs, finding great happiness in the camaraderie, shared passion, and lifelong friendships formed through the collector car community.
Leonard was a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A private memorial will be held for family and close friends.

Lenny was a kind and caring friend. We enjoyed spending time with him at car shows and when he was president of Corvettes on the Gulf. We will miss him and think of him often. RIP Len. Love to you and your family. Neil and Sue.

He was a good man and a friend of mine for many years. I was occasionally one of his "drivers" at a car show. He loved his cars and loved people.
