Passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at Saginaw Senior Care and Rehabilitation Center. Age 82 years. Leonard J. was born on January 25, 1943, in Saginaw to the late Louis M. and Marie A. (Owen) Markusic. He was married to Geraldine (Gerri) Rogalski on October 1, 1966, in Saginaw. His loving wife survives him. Leonard served as Boatswain Mate Third Class in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. Leonard was employed as a Supervisor at Saginaw Steering Gear, retiring in 1985. He was a member of Holy Spirit Parish in Thomas Twp. He enjoyed woodworking having built several items over the years, enjoyed having coffee and talking with family and friends, and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving besides his wife, Gerri, is one son, Nick (Kim) Markusic, one daughter-in-law, Sue Lowden; grandchildren, Connor (Caroline) Markusic, and Logan Markusic; one great-grandchild, Maddison Markusic, two brothers, John (Janice) Markusic, and Bob (Barb) Markusic; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by one son, Brian Markusic, one brother, Louis "Sonny" Markusic, and four sisters, Barb, Sandy, Carol, and Nancy, and one grandchild, Dakota Markusic.
The family wishes to thank the entire staff at Saginaw Senior Care, especially to Vicki who referred to Leonard as "pretty blue eyes," and to Alysha at Compasses Hospice for the exceptional care they gave him.
Cremation has taken place. Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 30, 2025, at Holy Spirit Parish 1035 N. River Rd. Rev. Fr. Peter Gaspeny will officiate where military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the US Navy and American Legion Post #439. Private inurnment will take place later in St. Andrew Cemetery. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at Holy Spirit Parish on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral Mass. Memorials may be given to the donor's choice.
