Leonard M. Musgjerd

Leonard Melroy Musgjerd 86, died peacefully Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at Three Links Care Center in Northfield MN with his wife of 65 years, Marlene by his side.
Leonard was born January 20, 1937 to Martin and Amanda (Skaar) Musgjerd and he attended country school and graduated from Kenyon High School in 1955. After high school, he enlisted in the US Navy and was deployed to the Mediterranean Sea during the early years of the Vietnam War. He married Marlene Janet Wunderlich on June 15, 1958 and together they raised two children, Cheryl and Dean.
He worked at the creamery in Kenyon, owned and operated his own petroleum business, worked construction, worked for the city of Detroit Lakes and finished his career working in maintenance for the Metropolitan Airport Commission.
Leonard was a lifetime member of Holden Lutheran Church in Kenyon. He was a member of the Kenyon Volunteer Fire Department from 1970 to 1982 and served as fire chief for two years. He was a life member of the Kenyon VFW where he served as commander of the post in 1969 and 1970. He also was a member of the Kenyon Veterans Color Guard.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting and spending time with his family playing cards and board games.
Leonard is survived by his wife Marlene, daughter Cheryl Klahr (Bob), son Dean Musgjerd (Trista), granddaughter Kayla Kaufmann (Mike), grandson Dylan Musgjerd (Taylor), and great granddaughters Raelyn Grace Musgjerd and her sister who will be born around October 21st.
Leonard is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Marlane and Carl.
Visitation will take place at Holden Lutheran Church on Friday, September 8, 2023 beginning at 1:00pm. The funeral service will be at 2:00pm. Burial will take place at Holden Cemetery following the service.
