Leonard Orzech Obituary
June 1, 1940 - August 11, 2023
Raleigh, North Carolina - Leonard S Orzech, born in New Preston, CT in 1940, died on 8/11/2023 from complications after a fall. He attended the University of Connecticut, receiving a bachelor's degree in mathematics and after graduation he served in the Peace Corps in Ethiopia for 2 years. Upon his return to the states he was hired by IBM. He volunteered to work for IBM supporting the Air Force in Saigon during the Vietnam war. In the early 70s, he took a leave of absence and returned to UConn to earn a master's degree in computer science. It was during this time that he met and married his wife, Denise, who was working toward her master's degree. They lived in Fairfax, VA for several years before moving to Raleigh, NC in 1985. After retiring from IBM, he enjoyed his garden, swimming pool and nightly martini. He will be remembered for his curiosity, generosity and zest for life. He is survived by his wife, Denise, of 48 years.
