Leonard A. Reichert

Leonard A. Reichert, 87, of Battle Creek, died December 29, 2018 at Rose Arbor Hospice Residence. Leonard was born July 14, 1931 in Akron, OH to Earl and Opal (Metcalf) Reichert. He graduated from Battle Creek Central High School and went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Navy. He worked as a steel construction worker for many years and belonged to the Local #340. Leonard loved animals, raising birds, fish, dogs and cats throughout his life. He had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh. He also enjoyed art, especially drawing, and was a huge movie and musical buff. Leonard was a 60 plus year member at the Battle Creek Seventh-day Adventist Tabernacle. Leonard married the former Doris Cook on June 24, 1956, who survives. He is also survived by their three children, Bruce (Hilda) Reichert, Gale (George) Milovanov and Janelle (Stephen) Helner; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Reichert. Friends will be received Wednesday, January 2, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care. Funeral services to celebrate Leonard's life will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Battle Creek Seventh-day Adventist Tabernacle. Interment with full military honors will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
