AMSTERDAM - Leonard Roginski, OP, 74 , of Amsterdam, N.Y., entered Eternity on Tuesday, November 25, 2025.
He was the proud son of the late Leonard John and Jennie Holubetz Roginski. He was born on February 4, 1951.
Through the loving example of his parents, Leonard learned the love of God, family, country and to feel compassion for people. He grew up in Amsterdam, N.Y. During his childhood, his cherished memories were of being an altar boy at St. Stanislaus Church and taking accordion lesson at Morris and Putnam Music Center. On Saturday's he enjoyed spending the day with his mother and sister visiting the many shops in Amsterdam, N.Y.
Leonard was a graduate of Bishop Scully High School. He was awarded a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting with Honors from Bentley University in 1973. He was also awarded a Master of Science Degree in Urban and Environmental Studies from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1974.
Leonard had a 42 year career in public service commencing with the City of Schenectady and continuing onto the New York State Office of Children and Family Services.
Leonard was a lifelong member of St. Stanislaus Church, and was a member of the Holy Name Society.
He was also a 25 year member of the Third Order of Preachers Fraternity of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart. His religious name was Jude Dominic Francis of the Holy Spirit.
Leonard is survived by his loving and dedicated partner, Jean Mahan; his son, Dr. Matthew Alexander Roginski (Dr. Christine Arsnow); his daughter, Christina Barbara Roginski (Daniel Blair); and his son, Daniel Basil Roginski (Kayla DeLano). His precious granddaughters, Ruth Clara, Helen Marie, and Margaret Ann (My little Margie) Roginski. He is also survived by his sister, Regina Klym (Myron); his loved nephew, Eric Klym (Pina Klym); and his dear niece, Jennie Adamo (Mark Adamo); and great-nieces, Addison, Caitlyn and Elisabeth Klym.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at 11 a.m., at St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church, 50-52 Cornell St., Amsterdam, with Father Nathaniel Resila as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Amsterdam, N.Y. Calling hours will be held on Monday, December 1, 2025 from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Rose & Hughes Funeral Home, 200 Church St., Amsterdam, N.Y. The Third Order of Preachers Fraternity will be praying the Rosary at 4 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Razom for Ukraine, P.O.
