Leonard A. Rust, 68, of Upper Burrell Township, died on Thursday, Jan. 29, 2026, in West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born in Wilkinsburg on Dec. 8, 1957, to the late William T. and Barbara E. Phillips Rust and has been a resident of Upper Burrell since 1986. Mr. Rust worked as a plumber for the Local 27 Plumbers Union until retiring in 2019. Since retiring, he enjoyed puttering in the garage on different projects, most recently a mailbox to match the house. He was always generous with his time, whenever someone had a plumbing issue or any other needs. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, hunting, fishing, watching, and rooting for the Pittsburgh Steelers. He especially enjoyed playing cards and board games with his grandchildren and watching them with their different activities and sports. He was a social member of the Upper Burrell Fire Hall for many years. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Theresa A. Volosin Rust; daughter, Amanda (Jason) Makara of Lower Burrell; son, Leonard M. Rust of Arnold; four grandchildren, Annalise Rust, Madyson, Lilly and Maximus Makara; sister, Linda Hoy; and brother, Lawrence (Karen) Rust, both of Kittyhawk, NC. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William Rust.
Friends will be received from 1 to 3 and 5 p.m., until time of funeral service at 7 p.m., on Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2026, by Rev. Dean Ward at RUSIEWICZ OF LOWER BURRELL FUNERAL HOME, 3124 Leechburg Road, at Alder St.
