Leonor Lara, went home to her Lord and Savior, peacefully on March 30, 2025 at the age of 82 years old. She was born on November 6, 1942, in
El Dorado, Kansas, to Andres and Juana (Maldonado) Lara. A graduate of El Dorado High School, Leonor completed her education in 1960. She went on to become an active and lifelong member of St. John's Catholic Church, where she devoted many years of service. Leonor was a cherished member of the Altar Society and the Legion of Mary, roles in which she served with a deep sense of purpose and unwavering commitment. Leonor's working career began as a beautician. Later, she worked for many years as the assistant to Dr. Bohannon at his Chiropractic office, where she continued to serve others with the same kindness and compassion that defined her life. Leonor's faith was the cornerstone of her life, and she was known for her kind and generous spirit, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. She was a devoted sister and aunt, always filling in wherever she was needed. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews who adored her. Among those are Elaine (Rick) Lopez, Micaela (Andrew) Ramirez, Rene (Mark) Carter, Raymond (Angie) Lara, Vincent (Cheri) Lara, Sue Jones, Richard (Tracy) Lara, Victor (Ruby) Lara, Mike (fiancé, Danielle) Lara, Patrick (Adelita) Lara, Manny (Diane) Valadez, and Irma Valadez. She is also survived by numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews, all of whom cherished her deeply. Leonor was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings Pedro Lara, Teresa Valadez, Mary Socorro Henderson, Victor Lara, Raymond Lara, and Rachel Lara. A rosary vigil will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church on Monday, April 7, 2025, at 10:00 AM, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM. Leonor will be laid to rest at Sunset Lawns Cemetery, where she will be reunited with her family in eternal rest. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church or the Altar Society. May she rest in eternal peace.
