Leopoldo Rodriguez was born on March 5, 1942, in Ciudad Guzmán, Jalisco, Mexico, to María Vega Preciado and Rafael Rodríguez Mitchel. He was one of four siblings, alongside Luis, Lupe, and Pedro.
Leopoldo is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Enedina Rodriguez; his two loving daughters, Silvia Brestak and Gloria Rodriguez; and his five cherished grandchildren—Karina, Sophia, Christian, Bella, and Logan.
A proud parishioner of St. Peter Claver and a resident of Simi Valley since 1979, Leopoldo was known for his strong faith, generous heart, and dedication to family. His early memories were filled with stories of family gatherings, youthful adventures, and a lifelong pursuit of success through hard work and perseverance.
Leopoldo met his beloved wife, Enedina, while both served as youth coordinators at a church retreat uniting young people from the greater Los Angeles area. Their shared faith and purpose blossomed into love, and they were married on March 6, 1971, at Saint Anne Church in Santa Monica, surrounded by family and friends.
The couple began their life together in Los Angeles, where they welcomed their first daughter, Silvia, in 1974. In 1979, they moved to Simi Valley, where they put down roots and completed their family with the birth of their second daughter, Gloria, in 1980.
Leopoldo was an athlete of many interests, finding joy and discipline in sports throughout his life. He was a passionate marathon and recreational runner, a dedicated martial arts practitioner, and an avid soccer player. Above all, he was a lifelong lover of baseball and a devoted fan of his beloved Los Angeles Dodgers, proudly cheering them on through every season.
After years of study, training, and technical schooling, Leopoldo began his professional career in the aerospace industry as a machinist. His talent, dedication, and precision in his craft led to a successful 25-year career with Boeing Rocketdyne Company, where he contributed to innovations that reached beyond the skies.
Affectionately known as “Polo” or “Leo,” he will be remembered for his warmth, integrity, and unwavering love for his family and community. Leopoldo will also be deeply missed as a dedicated parishioner, council member, and advocate for the Hispanic community of St. Peter Claver, where his faith and service touched many lives. His legacy of devotion, hard work, and kindness will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
