IN REMEMBRANCE AND CELEBRATION OF THE LIFE OF LEROY FRAGER Leroy Frager peacefully entered eternal rest on September 22, 2025, at Stamford Hospital, surrounded by the love and presence of his devoted family. Born on November 1, 1952, in
Stamford, Connecticut, Leroy was the fourth of five children born to Nathaniel and Mamie Frager. He was educated in the Stamford Public School System and proudly graduated from Rippowam High School in 1971. From an early age, Leroy had a deep love for sports. A naturally gifted athlete, he excelled in track and field, especially in relay and long-distance events as a standout member of the Rippowam High School Track Team. He was also a talented basketball player, admired for both his skill on the court and his unwavering dedication to the game, earning him the respect of teammates and fans alike. Leroy's faith played a central role in his life. He was baptized under Reverend Charles J. Sargent, Jr. at Union Baptist Church in Stamford, where he was an active participant in youth ministries including the Church School and Junior Usher Board. After obtaining his Commercial Driver's License, Leroy began his career with the City of Stamford Sanitation Department and later joined Davis Waste Management Company, where he worked faithfully until his retirement. A committed community member, Leroy was also an active and respected member of Shining Star Lodge #303 in Stamford, serving with honor as both a Trustee and House Chairperson. Affectionately known as "The Grill Master," Leroy had a special gift for bringing people together through food. Whether it was his famous ribs, barbecued chicken, or other signature dishes, his backyard cookouts were the highlight of family holidays and celebrations. Leroy was a devoted father and grandfather who cherished every moment spent with his children and grandchildren. Known for his outgoing nature, infectious laughter, and warm spirit, he had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcome-he truly never met a stranger. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Robin Smith-Frager, his son, Jermaine Weldon, and his parents, Nathaniel and Mamie Frager. Leroy's legacy lives on in the hearts of his children: LeSean Mellers and Trudy Frager; his stepdaughters: Yashmin Smith and Alycia Smith; his siblings: Nathan Frager, Alvin Frager (Rosemarie), Barbara Frager, and Betty Matthews (Marvin); his cherished grandchildren: Tianna Rose Addison, Treasure Hunte, Mekhi Mellers, Mekayla Mellers, and Khamari Mellers and Riyanna Barnes; his aunts, Rachel O. Banner and Rebecca Early; his uncle, Ollie Weaver; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends. Leroy Frager will be remembered for his generous heart, his joyful spirit, and the love he shared so freely with all who knew him. Visitation will be held on Friday, October,3, 2025 from 9:00AM - 10:00AM followed by a service of celebration at 10:00AM at Grace Evangelical Free Church, 241 Courtland Ave.,
Stamford, CT. Interment will follow at Woodland cemetery
