LeROY JOHNSON Obituary
LeRoy Frank Johnson passed peacefully in his Douglas, Wyoming home on Sunday, May 19, 2024.
He was born Saturday, May 31, 1930 in Sunrise, Wyoming the son of Frank Leslie "Jack" and Maria Katharina (Damrow) Johnson and grew up in Fort Laramie, Wyoming. He was a longtime resident of Casper, Wyoming, Sundance, Wyoming and Douglas. He served in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Japan during the Korean War. He worked as a carpenter and contractor, owned taverns in Casper and DuBois, Wyoming, and tended bar in Casper. He was an avid fly fisherman throughout his life and knew the best fishing holes across Wyoming. He kept his mind sharp through daily Sudoku puzzles, and read his way through the fiction sections of the Sundance and Douglas Public Libraries.
LeRoy was preceded in death by his wife, Inge Bendix Johnson; as well as two sisters, Arlene (Johnson) Paules and Paulene (Johnson) Darnell, and his parents Leslie Frank Johnson and Mary Katharina (Damrow) Johnson.
He was a dedicated step-up dad, and is survived by his step daughters and their spouses, Donna Lee Lambert (Ron) and Suzan Parker Peebles (Molly), as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. His step son, Russel Gene Hines, sadly passed away on May 19, 2024.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to causes LeRoy supported, including Paralyzed Veterans of America, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Special Olympics.
Military honors will be accorded by the United States Air Force Military Funeral Honors and Natrona County United Veterans Council at the Oregon Trail State Veterans Cemetery in Evansville, Wyoming.
