LeRoy J. Maillard, 93, residing in Sandusky, passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at Parkvue Health Care Center after a lengthy illness.
LeRoy was born on December 20, 1931 in Fremont, OH to the late Francis E. Maillard and Malinda M. (Brough) Smith.
LeRoy was a United States Marine Corps Veteran who served in the Korean War. He retired from Ford Motor Company in 1981 after 30 years of service as a machine set up man and supervisor. LeRoy was a member of VFW Post 2743 in Norwalk and American Legion Post 83. He enjoyed golfling, traveling with his wife visiting all the states and enjoyed wintering in Arizona, Myrtle Beach and Florida and spending time with family and friends.
LeRoy is survived by his son, John (Barb) Maillard of Vickery, OH; daughter, Mary (Jeff) Wadsworth of Port Clinton, OH; five grandchildren, Trisha (John) Eblin, Douglas Cooper, Elizabeth Maillard, Brent (Tiffany) Maillard and Molly (Todd) Suarez; eight great-grandchildren, Haley, Brendan and Cassidy Eblin, Gage Byington, Ava, Tate and Zeke Maillard, and Sam Suarez; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, LeRoy is preceded in death by wife, Elaine M. (Leibacher) Maillard in 2023; daughter, Susan Hood in 1990; two brothers, Douglas and Ervin Maillard; and step-father, Chester Smith.
Friends may call from 10:00 am until time of funeral service at 12:00 pm on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky with Pastor Andrea Mericle presiding. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
