Leroy Read Obituary

Published by Legacy on Dec. 11, 2025.
Leroy Alvin Read, of Minnesota, formerly of Ladysmith, Wisconsin, passed away surrounded by the love of his family. He grew up in Ladysmith and carried the warmth of that hometown spirit with him throughout his life.

Leroy was known for his friendly nature, his quick humor, and his incredibly hardworking hands. He loved waltz and country line dancing, spending weekends at dances where he always seemed to glide across the floor effortlessly. When he wasn't dancing, you could often find him tinkering in the garage-fixing, building, or just keeping busy with something that made him feel alive.

He had a gift for conversation and could talk to anyone. Whether he knew you for a minute or for years, Leroy had a way of making people feel welcome. He was truly loved by everyone who knew him.

Leroy is survived by his partner, Marilyn, who shared many years of companionship, laughter, and devotion with him. He is also survived by his children: Alan, Jerald, Robert, Deanna, and David; and his stepchildren: Natalie and Robert. He leaves behind many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.

His legacy is one of kindness, connection, and the simple joys-music, dance, hard work, and family. To know Leroy was to love him, and he will be deeply missed.

Memorial service 11:00 AM, Thursday, May 7, with visitation one hour prior at Mount Olivet Lutheran Church of Plymouth, 12235 Old Rockford Rd, Plymouth.
