Gloria Read Obituary

Gloria Dahl Read, age 77, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday March 3, 2026. Gloria was born May 2, 1948, in Stoughton, to Donald and June (Wanhagen) Dahl. She married David Read at Freeport First Lutheran Church in October of 1981.

Gloria is survived by her son, John Smithe, Stoughton; and daughter, Sara (Jim) Scott, Waunakee; grandchildren, Hope Scott, Jacksonville FL, and Tristan Scott, Waunakee; many dear cousins and friends; and dogs, Norman and Nila.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, David.

Gloria graduated from Freeport High School and Gulf Park College in Mississippi. Mom had a keen eye for fashion and impeccable taste. While working part-time at Borchers Women's Boutique in Freeport, Gloria earned several loyal clients. She also worked part-time at Fawns Niche and Barrett Realtors.

Mom thoroughly enjoyed her time living on Lake Kegonsa and all the wonderful relationships cultivated there. She was a devoted Christian and fiercely determined as she courageously battled multiple sclerosis. Gloria was a loving mother, grandmother and true friend.

A celebration of Gloria's life will begin at 1p.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at her favorite place, Springer's on Lake Kegonsa, 3097 Sunnyside St., Stoughton. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Dane County Humane Society.
