Lee, age 69, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at his home with his loving family by his side. He was born on December 19, 1953, to LeRoy and Doreen (Lewis) Wackerle of Linwood, Michigan. Lee married his high school sweetheart, Susan Lucke on August 18, 1973. He graduated from Pinconning High School in 1972 and attended Lake Superior State University. Lee retired from Dow Chemical Corporation and later from Habitat for Humanity of Bay County. He proudly served as a volunteer firefighter with the Pinconning Fraser Fire Department, sat on the Pinconning Township Zoning Commission, was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a longtime parishioner and cantor at Holy Trinity Parish. Lee enjoyed golf, raising bees, following NASA and hunting with numerous great friends through the years. He lived a life of service, was willing to help anyone with any project and loved keeping up with his growing family.
Lee is survived by his wife, Susan, of 50 years and his daughter, Christie (Jason) Apple and their children Paige, Mason (Saleen) and Bentley Butcher; Delaney and Mallory Apple; son, Luke (Jen) Wackerle and their children Elise and Jake; his siblings: Sandra (Jim) Clark, Dawn (Terry) DeLano, Katie Wackerle; his in-laws: Dave Zissler, Jean Lucke, Patti Lucke, Marion (Tom) Hornacek, Ray Lucke, Tracy (John) Albrecht and several nieces/nephews, great nieces/nephews, cousins in the U.S. and Australia and many dear friends. Besides his parents, Lee was preceded by his father and mother-in-law Donald and Marion Lucke, his sister Billy Jo Zissler, his in-laws Jim Lucke, Dan (Judy) Lucke, Sue Lucke and nephews Tom Lucke and Jarred LaFave.
Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at 11:00 am from Holy Trinity Parish-Saint Michael Church with Rev. Fr. Matthew Federico presiding, before mass at 10:45 am there will be a Fire Bell Service by the Pinconning Fraser Fire Department. A private burial in Saint Michael Cemetery will take place at a later date. Friends may visit at the Lee-Ramsay Funeral Home on Monday, December 18th from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm and then at Holy-Trinity-Saint Michael Church from 6 pm to 8 pm with a prayer vigil, led by Rev. Fr. Matthew Federico, at 7 pm. On Tuesday, friends may visit at the church from 10:00 am until time of mass.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Pinconning Fraser Fire Department or Holy Trinity Parish of Pinconning in Lee's honor.
