Graveside services for Les Kindred, 83, of Palestine, are scheduled for 9:15 a.m. on Friday, March 20, 2026, at Dallas–Fort Worth National Cemetery with Rev. Barbara Morgan officiating. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 22, 2026, at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) – Jacksonville, 1920 Beaumont St., Jacksonville, Texas 75766.

Mr. Kindred passed away on February 28, 2026, in Tyler.

Frank Lester Kindred was born on May 4, 1942, in Harris County, Texas, the son of Frank Hayden Kindred and Ella Louise (Gerding) Kindred. He graduated from Arlington High School in 1960. Les served in the United States Navy for eight years stationed in Hawaii, Italy, and Groton, Connecticut, and was also aboard the USS Nautilus (SSN-571) during part of his service. He retired from AT&T after more than 30 years of service. Les was a member of First Christian Church of Arlington for over 40 years and most recently was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) – Jacksonville. He raised large birds and standard poodles and will be remembered as humorous, outgoing, and charismatic.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Sarah Fox.

Survivors include his loving wife, Carolyn Kindred; his daughter, Melissa Stocksen and husband Christian; his stepdaughter, Beth Bramlett; his brother, Phillip Kindred; his brother-in-law, Wayne Fox; and his step-grandchildren, Jackson Brown, Emilia Brown, Lauren Brown, and William Hirshee.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) – Jacksonville, 1920 Beaumont St., Jacksonville, Texas 75766.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home family.
