Leslie Breden Obituary

Published by Legacy on Aug. 27, 2025.
Leslie Phillip Breden passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Monday, August 25th 2025, in Bethesda, MD. Les was born on September 19th 1962, in Baltimore, MD to Leslie H. and Margareta Breden. In 1988, he graduated from the University of Maryland with a degree in Criminal Justice. Shortly after graduating, he began a career in sales with ADT Security that spanned several decades - at one point earning the title of best salesperson in the country. In 1991, he met and married his beloved wife, Barbara Asbury. They welcomed two children, Christopher (1993) and Alison (1995). Les was a loving husband, father, brother, son, son-in-law, uncle and friend. He was known for his love of a delicious meal (especially if beef was involved), a cheesy dad-joke, and a friendly political debate. Les was kind and generous, always polite, and loved to laugh and spend time with his children. They will cherish many sweet memories, like waking up to a dining room decorated by Les every year on their birthday (we won't say anything about the quality of the decorating, but all the necessities were there), having Les' homemade chicken soup when they were sick, and going to church with him every Sunday. Speech was difficult for Les in his final months, but he always managed to whisper "thank you for coming, I love you very much" at the end of every visit. Les was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Asbury Breden, his mother, Rev. Margareta Steingass Breden, his mother-in-law Frances Bayne Asbury, and his father-in-law Rev. Claud L. Asbury. He is survived by his children, Chris and Alison Breden, brothers Hans (Jennifer) and Thor (Deena) Breden, and several beloved nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the teams at The Hebrew Home of Greater Washington, Suburban Hospital, and Montgomery Hospice, for taking excellent care of Les during his final days and years. A visitation to celebrate Les' life will be held on Sunday, August 31st at 2pm to 4pm at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville, MD, with a reception to follow at The Big Belly Deli in Sykesville.
