LANCASTER, NH – Leslie R. DeGreenia, 85, of Cubb Street, died peacefully at his home on Wednesday morning, April 17, 2024 after a lengthy illness.
Leslie was born in Sheffield, VT on October 17, 1938, the son of Walter DeGreenia and Emma (Chamberlain) DeGreenia Kettle. He attended Sheffield schools and served two years in the US Air Force.
Returning home from the service, Leslie settled back to Sheffield where he resided for most of his lifetime. He was a Jack of all trades, especially skilled in carpentry and electrical work. For 20 years he was employed in maintenance at the Northeast Correctional Complex in St. Johnsbury, from where he retired. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, carpentry, and cabinet making.
His first wife Althea (Mitchem) DeGreenia predeceased him. On July 7, 2007, he married Patricia Higgins of Sheffield.
Surviving family members include his wife Patricia DeGreenia of Lancaster; his four children, Joanne Lefleur of St. Johnsbury, Tammie Gonyer of Lyndonville, Harold DeGreenia of St. Johnsbury, Pattie Flynn of Lancaster; 6 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; his brother, Jason DeGreenia and sister, Georgia Newland both of Sheffield; and many nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by four brothers Wally, Lyle, Phil, and Harold.
A private graveside service will be held for the family in the Dexter Cemetery in Sheffield.
A celebration of life will be held June 1st from 1:00-3:00pm at the Tom Breslin Community Center, 377 Main St, Lyndonville, VT.
