Lyle C. Degreenia, 74, of Lyndonville, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2026, at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital after a long illness.
Lyle was born on September 14, 1951, in St. Johnsbury, to Clayton & Gladys (Hitchcock) Degreenia. A lifelong resident of the area, he attended Lyndon Institute before beginning a career as an automotive mechanic. He married the love of his life, Beth Degreenia, on June 16, 1973. Together, they never missed one of their children’s sporting events. They enjoyed their road trips and camping together. They enjoyed spending time with their neighbors around the fire pit drinking coffee at their East Haven home. Life was never the same for Lyle after Beth’s passing on January 10, 2020.
Lyle will be remembered by many in the community from his time at area racetracks. He never missed a weekend of racing and enjoyed being part of pit crews and everything that had to do with local racing. Though, in his later years, his health kept him from many of the things and people he loved, Lyle will be remembered for the love and care he showed to many throughout his life.
Lyle is survived by his children Tonya (Dana) Caron & Todd (Tina Pilette) Degreenia; siblings Evelyn (Paul) Charron, Elaine (Kenny) Rexford, Darrell (Karen) Degreenia, & Terri Taylor; brother-in-law Bill Giguere; grandchildren Jaydon (Cameron Bell) Caron, Brittney (Keagon) Leighton, Miranda Caron, Damon Ruggles, Ashley Bassett, & Dominic Bassett; and great-grandchildren Everest & Miles Caron. He was predeceased by his parents, beloved wife Beth Degreenia, and sister Cheryl Giguere.
Lyle will be laid to rest with Beth at a graveside service to be held in the spring at Lyndon Center Cemetery, at the convenience of the family.
