Leslie Paul Dupree, age 71 of Decatur, GA, peacefully went home on June 18th 2024, with family and friends by his side. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Paul Dupree, his mother, Sadie Louise Veasey, and over 20 Aunts and Uncles. Les is survived by his sister, Gayle Dupree Grooms (Michael Grooms), niece Tara Maddox (Will Maddox), Aunt Louise Dupree, dozens of cousins and even more friends.
Les was born in Atlanta, GA. He graduated from Columbia High School in 1971 and remained an active member of the reunion committees for the last 50 years. Soon after high school, Les followed his father's footsteps and became a Police Officer for the Atlanta Police Department. Never losing site of the people he met along the way, Les had an unmatched ability of keeping up with his friends, coworkers and teammates from every stage of his life.
For Les, the question shouldn't be who he left behind but what: a gaping hole and a big legacy. Les's service to others did not end when he left the police force. In 1989, he went on to expand his father's side business into what is now known as Dupree Security Group. Les ran security for the first show to take place in the Georgia World Congress Center and remains a fixture to this day. His name is synonymous with the Atlanta Hospitality Industry, and we all will forever owe him a debt of gratitude for the impact he has made on our lives, both personally and professionally.
The Celebration of Life will be held on July 29th from 2:00 – 4:00pm at the Georgia World Congress Center, Room B401. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project. You can see all the details for the celebration at the RSVP link here: https://tinyurl.com/lesdupree.
