Leslie R. Harmon, 92, passed away on Friday, December 20, 2024 at the St. Johns Woodlands Campus in Albert Lea, MN. A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 27, 2024 at 1pm at the Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home in Albert Lea, MN. A visitation will be held the night prior on Thursday, December 26, 2024 from 5-7pm at the funeral home, along with an hour before the service. Pastor Don Malinsky will be officiating.
Leslie R. Harmon was born on October 26, 1932 to Raymond and Helga Harmon in Petersburg, North Dakota. In 1954, Leslie joined the United States Army, and served for 2 years. In 1961, he married Stephanie Markovic in East Grand Forks, Minnesota. They had two sons and a daughter.
Leslie’s heart was into farming, and he continued to farm his entire life until in 1997 at age 65, he moved to Albert Lea. He loved to watch the draft horse shows on TV. After moving to Albert Lea, he took up real estate, flipping houses, and having rentals. He volunteered at St. Johns, was a Deacon, and an usher as well. Les loved to visit and pick on people. He would play little pranks to get everyone to laugh. When he wasn’t out farming, he could be found playing cards and dice. He gave out the biggest bear hugs, along with playful karate chops and snake-bites. He treasured his “grandies” and had an overflowing abundance of love and wisdom.
Leslie is survived by his wife Stephanie Harmon; children Arland (Robin) Harmon, Camron Harmon, and Fayette (Jason Dybedahl). Grandchildren Michael (Rachael) Harmon, Tasha Harmon, Annea Harmon, Ishara Harmon, Rachel (Tony Whalen) Harmon, Daniel (Rashell) Champagne, Elizabeth (Chris) Vassallo, Kelsi (Braxton Kjos) Dybedahl. Great-Grandchildren Delana Harmon, Markus Harmon, Octavia Evans, Ashlynn Chanpagne, Keira Champagne, Madison Ryerson, Brooklyn Kirsch, and two babies on the way: baby Vassallo and baby Kjos.
Leslie is preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Helga, his seven brothers and sisters, many nieces, nephews, cousins, along with his grandson Daniel Camron Dybedahl.
