Leslie Marie McDevitt

Leslie was born on Halloween 1947 and did we ever have such fun Halloween parties! Cousins and relatives and neighborhood spooks attended and Leslie loved games galore including bobbing for applies.

Then there was the St. Monica's 8th grade volleyball championship in 1961. Leslie was like a kangaroo able to jump so high. St. Monica's won out over all the Catholic elementary schools in San Francisco that year.

When at Sarah Dix Hamlin School Leslie excelled as a prominent student and Mrs. Longshore awarded Leslie the prize for the top freshman Latin student which was the book, "Fernandus Taurus" all in Latin.

Leslie did modeling for about five years after high school and two years of college.

She had a pixie bob haircut and was naturally poised and carried herself with absolute perfect posture. Leslie had perfect posture her entire life as a matter of fact.

Leslie was the first to bring home a 45 record cut by the Dave Clark Five and she was the best dancer. We would all practice in the front room in San Francisco and the twins, Mark and Greg, were pretty good, too.

When Peaches was born we were all delighted with the new baby girl who was the jolliest of babies. Peaches was not afraid of the 21 white mice pets and let them crawl up and down her arms. Leslie was a good babysitter and along with Susanne and her siblings we would spend a lot of time at Rochambeau Playground.

Then, along came George and he was the star of the Halloween playground party dressed as a line backer in a red football costume with a leather helmet on Leslie's Halloween birthday.

We did have lots of fun, all six of us!

Leslie married Johrden McDevitt at St. Vincent's in San Francisco and had twins, Jackie and Scott, and Brian. She was a loving mother.

May Leslie rest in peace after a long and storied life. She had what cousin Carmel would call, "Coraggio" and what our Dad would call "Gumption".
