Mr. Leslie Gray Slawter, 58 of Mount Airy, passed away on Friday afternoon, August 22, 2025, at Northern Regional Hospital. He was born in Surry County to the late Lesley Lindburg Slawter and Lena Ellen Donathan Slawter. Gray was a handyman who loved his grandchildren and woodworking. Left to cherish his memory are his significate other, Sandra Keener; daughter and son-in-law, Vanessa and David Luna; grandchildren, Elena Luna, Ximena Luna, Ismael Luna, Cesia Luna, Laila Chandler, Lilly Chandler, and Jaxon Chandler; sisters, Judy Cox, Debra and Larry Bryant, Tammie Casstevens, and Gaye and Sammy Jones; brothers, Steven and Faye Slawter, and Keith Slawter; several nieces and nephews; and his special fur baby, Butter. In addition to his parents, Mr. Slawter was preceded in death by a sister, Hilda Tope; and a brother, Rickey David Slawter. A celebration of Gray's life will be held on Wednesday August 27, 2025, at 11:00am in the Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy with Pastor David Horton officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday at Moody’s from 10:00 – 11:00am. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
