Leslie Edwin Wulf was born November 27th, 1946 in West Point, Nebraska to Leona and Edwin Wulf. He attended school in rural Dodge County, and graduated from Scribner High School. His first job was detasseling corn at the age of 13, and working at the local meat market. While in high school, Les was in FFA. After high school, Les proudly served for six years in the Navy until 1970, where he served on the USS Nantahala as a radar endorsed electronic tech petty officer. Les then moved to California and spent years in sales at Sperry Univac. Later he got back into agriculture and started Valley Oaks Angus out in Plymouth, California. Angus cattle became a lifelong passion of his.
In 2000, Les moved out to Pierre, South Dakota, and purchased the Outpost Lodge, where he made many friends. He met and married Barb Leesman in 2022, and lived his remaining days with her east of Blunt at the Leesman Ranch. Les had a passion for Corvettes, vintage tractors, and had recently acquired a Gyrocopter which he was learning to fly. He was a Shriner, and loved to help his community, especially lending a hand at the farm. Les and Barb went on many trips including a honeymoon to Germany, trips to Cancun, Columbia, Tennessee, North Carolina, Arizona, and most recently a cruise to Alaska. Les didn't know any strangers. At some point they all became friends and would come over to tinker on a piece of equipment, play cards, hunt, visit or to share a meal. Les was a good Christian man and an active member of Faith Lutheran in Pierre. He was a man that lived what he believed. He was a devoted son, a loving father to Melinda and was enthusiastically adopted into Barb's family as a father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother in-law.
Leslie is survived by his beloved wife Barb, his daughter Melinda and her husband Ryan Capen, Barb's children Raleigh and his wife Leigh Leesman, Angela and her husband Michael Bollweg, Pamela and her husband Marlon Ferguson, nine grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Sandy Pakan, Sandy's children Jeff, Renee, Jason, Renee's children Cody and Olivia, his aunt Louise Schulzkump, numerous cousins, four sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law.

I first met Les, right after he purchased the Out Post and we immediately "hit it off". We quickly became a good, close friends. I started taking my customers to his lodge, and he became their friends, as well. I started taking my family, a couple times a year, to his lodge for our fishing vacations and he became their friend, too. We were all very sad to hear the tragic news. R.I.P. my friend....you will be missed.
