Lesly, words cannot express how sorry I am to learn of your passing! Both Ric and I are devastated but relieved that you are no longer in any pain.
I know Homer welcomed you with open arms as you "are" and always will be our voice of reason!
The world is a better place because of you, and I will always cherish our friendship!
Love John & Ric!

I met Dean Curtis in 2001. I was her student enrolled in the NP program at Columbia University. The first day I met her we had a new student info session. There were so many personalities in the program, it was overwhelming. Dean Curtis made each and every student feel `heard´, no matter how extreme their views were. As the year progressed the conflicts were many. It seemed each person had an idea of how the program should be run, and were vocal about it. Then 911 happened. I was at the site as a rescue worker for four days. The event rattled me real bad. When I came back to campus I immediately went to Dean Curtis. She talked me down for hours. She was next to me for the rest of my time in the program. She was always supportive and knew the next step or issue I would have. I have met wise, intelligent, and smart people all over the world, Dean Curtis was all of these combined. Even the politics of faculty she handled professionally. This summer I took my eight year old son to New York and visited the site. It was the first time I had been back to the site since it happened. I explained to my son about the event, and told my son about Dean Curtis. I let him know how one person can change your course in life. The many meetings I had with Dean Curtis in her office, her words of wisdom, patience and passion, are still heard today. Dean Curtis was not a big woman, but her words carried the strength of a linebacker. Dean Curtis- you will be missed but remember every day. I apologize for the run ons and fragments, but it is hard to write.
