Lester M Basey Sr , 80, of Indianapolis, went to be with his Lord and Savior, September 26th, 2025. He was born October 4th, 1944, to parents Richard and Alice Basey.
Lester grew up in Indianapolis. When he was a young boy in grade school, he met the love of his life, Janie Reuter. They grew up together, and on March 10th, 1961, when he was just 17, he and Janie were married. They shared 63 wonderful years together.
He worked most of his life at Standard Grocery, before retiring. He then enjoyed his life spending time with his grandchildren and arguing with SPAM callers. In his younger years, he coached the kids softball and baseball teams, and was an avid golfer.
Lester was a loving husband, dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Lester is survived by his children Lester Basey Jr., (Rhonda), Rick Basey (Kim), Kim Jenkins (The Late Mike), Penny Prince (Chance); nieces/bonus daughters Ginnie Shaner and Lisa Burchfield Kimbro, seven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren; and his dog Gizmo.
Visitation will be Friday, October, 3rd, at Flanner Buchanan Washington Park East, from 10am-1pm His funeral will begin at 1pm. He will be laid to rest at Washington Park East Cemetery.
