Brother Lester Edward DeShazor Sr., departed his life, Tuesday February 4, 2025, at 4:20 PM at Lynchburg General Hospital in Lynchburg VA.
Brother DeShazor was born April 22, 1952, to the late Percy Edward DeShazor and Louise Watkins DeShazor. He was a graduate of Dan River High School and retired from the Lorillard Tobacco Company in Greensboro North Carolina.
Brother DeShazor accepted Jesus Christ as his savior and joined the Mt. Zion Baptist Church with his father. In later years he moved his membership to Hackberry Baptist Church where he remained a faithful member. He served as head of the kitchen committee and a member of the Pastor Anniversary committee for a number of years he also served on the Deacon Board and was a member of the Hackberry Male Chorus. His favorite songs where I Pray, We All Be Ready, I Want to go where the Thunder don't Roar and Lord I'm Depending on You.
He was also preceded in death by two wives, Minister Annie Bell DeShazor and Deaconess Peggy Waller DeShazor also four sisters and four brother.
He leaves to cherish his memory three daughters, VaRonda Mays and Elder Anita Lee of Danville, VA, and LaCresia Saunders of Atlanta Georgia, two sons, Lester Edward DeShazor Jr., of Baltimore Marland and Isaac Lee DeShazor of Danville, VA., five brothers, Lawernce DeShazor (Sylvia), Lonnie DeShazor (Betty), David Watkins (Jannie) all of Ringgold VA., Raleigh DeShazor Richmond VA., and James DeShazor of Danville VA., one sister, Lenora Lee of Danville, VA., three grandchildren, LaQuisha DeShazor, Byron Walters and Paul Carter III (Kianna), two great grandchildren, Harmoni and Heiress, two, sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law, four god children, Pastor Willie Jerome Lee, Jacquez Motley, Shaunita Lee and Glorenda Farmer, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Celebration of life services for Brother Lester Edward DeShazor Sr., will be conducted on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at 3:00p.m. at Apostolic Faith Temple 124 Witcher Rd. Ringgold Virginia, Elder Christopher Saunders, Pastor, Pastor Willie J. White,Eulogist, White Oak Grove Baptist Church, Sutherlin Virginia and Pastor Rev. Dr. Hubert W. Pannell, Presiding, Hackberry Baptist Church, Sutherlin Virginia. Interment will follow at Hackberry Baptist Church Cemetery 2026 Hackberry Rd. Sutherlin, Virginia.
A public viewing will be on Friday, February 7, 2025 at J. L. Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment Danville Virginia from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Family and friends are asked to assemble at the residence of his sister, Mrs. Lenora Lee 2264 Robin Hood Dr. Danville Virginia at 2:00 p.m. on the day of the service.
